Based in the Eye Unit at Bournemouth Hospital, our help desk is the first port of call for many, serving more than 1,600 people a year. As well as advice about your very first steps with dealing with sight loss, it also provides support for anyone struggling with the emotional impact this may bring.
The help desk is run by our team member Wendy, who understands what it’s like to be told that you’re losing your sight because she’s experienced it for herself.
What you need at the point of diagnosis is somebody who understands and can patiently and empathetically tell you what you need to know, before we help explain some of the other services available to you, and work with you to help provide longer-term support.
