Maria joined DBA as a Trustee in 2010, having been a visually impaired member and service user since moving to the area in 2000. This has given her a broad and deep understanding of what the charity does and the value it has to its members. Having been fortunate enough to have some sight restored she wants to continue to give back by ensuring that the views of people with sight loss are represented on the Board. Her previous professional experience in the field of sales and marketing enable her to make a valuable contribution to the running of the charity.
Married to Hans and with family scattered around the world, she strives to balance time spent with her family, including a young granddaughter, with enjoying our beautiful Dorset countryside and beaches. Her interests include ballroom dancing, gardening and travelling.
Maria has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for several years now but still finds time to help out with fundraising activities whenever possible.
