Community Fundraising

The backbone of any charity is community support and we at Dorset Blind Association are no different in that we have been aided by a kind and benevolent community since our inception in 1918 – something we are keen to hold on to. As a Dorset-specific charity, we understand only too well the need to engage and forge links with local individuals, social groups and businesses so that our community fundraising plans – whether they be events, collection tins in shops, supermarket token schemes, school mufti days, bucket collections, individual fundraisers, etc – are sustainable, as 100% of what Dorset Blind Association achieves is only made possible by the generosity of our supporters.

On average it costs £325 for us to help somebody for a year with a community support worker, befriender and social club.

With huge demand for our services and no government funding; the biggest challenge we face is funding our work.

We are not funded by the government nor the RNIB so 100% of what we do needs to be supported through fundraising.

That’s nearly £400,000 we need to raise every year – it’s a big target and we can’t do it without your help.

It may sound clichéd but the simple truth of the matter is that we wouldn’t exist but for the generosity of our supporters so we are very humbled by any and all the support we receive from the community.

Please help us to help visually impaired people in Dorset live a full and happy life.
