We provide practical help and emotional support to enable people with sight loss to stay healthy and happy. We have been caring for people since 1918 and now help over 1,000 people every month, county-wide.
PRACTICAL
We deliver practical help and support across the whole of Dorset and directly into the community so that it is as accessible as possible for visually impaired people.
EMPOWERING
We work in partnership with people who have lost their sight to empower them to enable independent living. By improving their confidence and self-belief and giving them the tools and support they need, they can live as independently as they wish.
LIFELONG
Our support is not time-limited in any way, unlike many programmes that other charities or statutory agencies deliver. People’s needs and circumstances change over time as their sight may deteriorate further, so we offer continuous support for as long as people need it.
UNRESTRICTED
Our help is not limited to those registered blind or partially sighted but extended to anyone suffering from sight loss. We also support their families in dealing with the associated challenges.
We recognise that every person’s needs are unique, as is the impact of serious sight loss on them, so the starting point is always to have a conversation with one of our dedicated staff team. We can then explain how we can help you, based on your individual circumstances.
